Yoga is one of the practices that is performed during pregnancy in order to accompany the changes that occur in the body during pregnancy.

Fitball exercises provide gentle support for the pelvis as it gently accompanies all our movements. A fitball can help you resist the urge to slump as it promotes good posture, which is particularly essential in the last weeks of pregnancy when baby needs to get in the correct position.

They are also a great resource for labor, since it provides natural analgesia and helps the progress of labor since the movements help the baby to descend.

Incorporating these movements before delivery provides the mobility we need to make way for our baby.

It helps to distribute your weight more evenly, relieving spinal pressure and easing any back pain or pregnancy niggles. They are also fantastic in all stages of labour too – from helping to open up the pelvis and create space, to supporting you in swaying and moving to help baby drop down ready for birth.

Gentle movements or bouncing on your fitball can help relieve lower back and hip pain as well as ease tension at the front of your bump where it may be feeling tight.

Exercise can also help you sleep a little better meaning more energy for the day ahead.
